ETHICAL SOURCING OF DIAMONDS
What is the Kimberley Process?
The Kimberley Process (KP) is an international certification scheme, established in 2003, that aims to
prevent the trade of "conflict diamonds"—rough diamonds used by rebel groups to fund conflicts
against legitimate governments. This multi-stakeholder initiative brings together governments, the
diamond industry, and civil society. Through its Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS),
participating countries implement strict controls, requiring every shipment of rough diamonds to be
accompanied by a tamper-proof certificate verifying their conflict-free status. This system enhances
transparency and accountability, ensuring that legitimate diamonds do not fuel violence.
Can the Kimberley Process Guarantee Ethical Diamonds?
No, it does not. While the Kimberley Process aims to stop the flow of diamonds funding conflicts, its
scope is quite narrow. It doesn't address broader ethical concerns or human rights abuses prevalent
in the diamond mining industry. This means that a diamond certified as "conflict-free" by the KP
could still be associated with a troubling history, including:
ï‚· Torture, rape, and extrajudicial killings
ï‚· Corruption
ï‚· Child labor and forced labor
ï‚· Unsafe working conditions
ï‚· Environmental damage
Essentially, the Kimberley Process focuses solely on stopping diamonds from financing rebel wars,
not on ensuring comprehensive ethical sourcing across the entire diamond supply chain. READ

What are Conflict-free diamonds?
Conflict-free diamonds are diamonds that have been sourced and traded in a way that does not
contribute to armed conflict, civil wars, or human rights abuses. The term emerged in response to
the issue of "blood diamonds" or "conflict diamonds," which were diamonds mined in war zones and
sold to finance rebel movements or other factions against legitimate governments.
Conflict-free diamonds are diamonds that do not fund rebel movements or other illegal armed
groups seeking to overthrow legitimate governments. The proceeds from their sale are not used to
buy weapons or support violent activities. Read More (give the link of the page created for Conflict

Is it possible to track a diamond from its mine to our jewelry?
Difficult but yes, tracking a diamond from its mine to your doorstep is entirely possible. While it demands dedicated systems and meticulous record-keeping, the capability exists.
Just like any other valuable products - coffee or artisan olive oil, diamonds can be followed through the entire global supply chain. In fact, due to their high value, diamonds are often tracked rigorously to prevent theft or loss.
We can take this transparency even further, leveraging blockchain technology. This advanced method integrates directly into the supply chain, creating an immutable and secure record of a diamond's journey, offering you enhanced confidence in its origins and ethical sourcing.
Â
Does Ethical-Sourcing affect the price of the diamond?
Ethical sourcing does impact a diamond's price. This is because ensuring a diamond's journey is responsible—from fair labor practices and safe working conditions to environmental protection and community investment—adds on to the expenses. Implementing robust tracking systems like blockchain and third-party audits also increases costs. However, consumers increasingly value this, knowing their diamond was sourced responsibly they are willing to pay a premium price for their peace of mind.

What is recycled gold?
Recycled or repurposed gold is gold re-obtained from existing products instead of new mining. The process of involves collecting gold- bearing materials like old jewelry, coins, bars, industrial waste etc., sorting and melting then refining the gold to remove impurities. Crucially, recycled gold has the exact same chemical and physical properties as newly mined gold; retaining 100% of its quality regardless of how many times it's been melted or recycled.
The primary benefits of using recycled gold are environmental and ethical:
- Reduced environmental impact:Â It significantly lessens the need for new gold mining, which is an energy-intensive process that can lead to deforestation, habitat destruction, soil erosion, and water pollution. Recycling gold has a much lower carbon footprint than mining.
- Ethical sourcing:Â It inherently avoids the ethical concerns sometimes associated with new gold mining, such as human rights abuses, unsafe labor practices, and the financing of conflict.
Recycled gold is a sustainable and responsible alternative that reuses an existing valuable resource, contributing to a circular economy. In fact metals like silver can also be repurposed like gold.

LAB GROWN DIAMONDS
Does TrueSanity also offer loose lab grown diamonds?
Yes, we have lab grown diamonds in an array of shapes and sizes. You can select the Loose Lab Grown Diamond (https://www.truesanity.com/
What are lab grown diamonds? Are they real?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. Here's why:
- Identical Chemical Composition:Â Both natural diamonds (mined from the earth) and lab-grown diamonds are composed of pure carbon atoms arranged in the same crystal lattice structure. This means their chemical makeup is identical.
- Identical Physical and Optical Properties:Â Since they share the same atomic structure, lab-grown diamonds exhibit the exact same physical and optical properties as natural diamonds. This includes their hardness (10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest known material), brilliance, fire, and sparkle. You cannot tell them apart with the naked eye.
The only fundamental difference is their origin – one formed over billions of years inside the Earth, the other in a lab over a few weeks or months. They are not "fake" diamonds or simulants (like cubic zirconia or moissanite, which have different chemical compositions). They are genuine diamonds with a different creation story.
Â
How are Lab Grown Diamonds made?
Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled laboratory environments using processes that replicate the conditions under the earth as natural diamonds.
 The two primary methods are:
- High-Pressure/High-Temperature (HPHT):Â This method mimics the intense heat and pressure found in the Earth's mantle.
- Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD):Â This method involves placing a tiny diamond seed in a vacuum chamber and introducing carbon-rich gases that build up layers of diamond.
Is there any certification for Lab Grown Diamonds?
Yes, Lab-grown diamonds are graded using the same "4 Cs" (carat, cut, color, clarity) as natural diamonds. All our diamonds come with a Certificate of Authenticity that has complete information about the carat weight, cut/shape, dimensions etc. Reputed gemological laboratories like GIA and IGI also do the certification of these diamonds.
Are Lab Grown Diamonds cheaper than natural diamonds?
Yes, a lab-grown diamond of similar quality can be almost half the price of a natural diamond. This price difference allows consumers to purchase a larger or higher-quality diamond within their budget, this saves a lot of money while still acquiring a chemically and physically identical gem.
Â
Diamond details have terms like- treatment and enhancement- What’s the difference?
There is no difference between treatment and enhancement, both the words are used to suggest any procedure used to improve the appearance or durability of the gemstone or diamond.
